    SUNRIVER ANGLERS offers club members, a 3 day/2 night trophy fly fishing trip to PRONGHORN LAKE
    April 15-17, 2019

    Cost per person $300.  Deposit due March 1, 2019

    A minimum of 6 anglers required!

    Duration: 3 days/2 nights. Arrive Monday, April 15th, prior to noon; Fish from noon Monday; all day Tuesday April 16th; and the morning of Wednesday April 17th; check-out at noon April 17th.

    Species: Trophy sized rainbow trout.

    Cabin one - sleeps two. 
    One pull out sofa; an over size cot; basic kitchen; water from 5 gal jugs; electricity.

    Cabin two - sleeps four.  Bunk bed for two; back cabin two bunk beds.

    *Cabin two - will be our cooking, eating and hanging out cabin.

    Cabins have electric heaters; no running water; there are 5 gallon jugs of drinking water in each cabin; refill from the well; bring your own bottled water if you'd like.

    Cooking - microwave, coffee pot; small refer; George Foreman electric grill; Gas BBQ outside. Pots, pans, paper plates, plastic knives, forks, etc. We will use paper plates and plastic utensils.

    Outside Fire Pit for warmth throughout the day, and sharing fish stories in the evening!

    Cell service:  Verizon works fine; not AT&T.

    Water hookup - NO.

    Other details - two spots, level sites in front of the cabins, one level for a camper


    Pontoon Boat or Float Tube work well.

    Boats - you can bring your own boat with gas motor and electric.  Speed limit 5 mph.

    Rental boats available: one at $35-day boat with 30 hp gas motor and electric motor; one with no gas motor, but has electric motor.

    Food: $?? per person per day, depending on what the group wants.

    Drinks = BYOB.

    DAY ONE: 
    Lunch on your own; 
    Dinner – Steak (need a cook), need cooks for baked beans, salad, French bread. $12 pp. Kitchen cleanup is angler 1 and 2. Dining guests are:  

    DAY TWO: Breakfast – about 10:30 am; we will have pancakes; need cook for bacon, cook for hash browns. Coffee maker is questionable; Kitchen cleanup is angler (Need 2).
    Lunch: on your own.
    Dinner:  To be determined.

    Clean kitchen, dishes, pans, sweep floors, wipe down counters remove trash.

    Restrooms - one portable toilet

    Showers - none.

    Bedding - bring your own sheets, pillows, blankets or sleeping bags, and Towels.

    Outside fire pit has wood.

    Introduction to Fly Fishing
    on the Crooked River

    SUNRIVER ANGLERS and THE HOOK FLY SHOP are pleased to offer club members an "Introduction to Fly Fishing" educational outing and fishing event on the Crooked River, May 22, 2019.

    Anglers will meet at a campground (TBD) on the Crooked River at 9:00am. The Hook will provide a Host to discuss fishing equipment, flies, and tactics and on-the-water instruction and tips. The class will end at 1:00pm. SUNRIVER ANGLERS will provide lunch and hot drinks.

    Limited to a maximum of 12 anglers.  Cost is $45 per person including a tip for the Host and the cost of Lunch.

    The Hook will present a short overview on Fishing the Crooked River at our May 16 meeting.

    During the outing, at 9:00am, our Host will go over fishing techniques.  Then they will take 6 anglers on the water for more advice and coaching. After 11:00am, the second group will go with the Host and onto the river for their turn at instruction. The first group can continue fishing.  Lunch will then be provided and anglers can depart anytime.

    What to bring:  
    > Hot drinks for the morning

    > Warm clothes, at it is cold in the shade

    > Waders with wadding staff

    > Fly fishing gear and flies (see the Hook for fly recommendations)

    > Fishing License

    Watch out for snakes!

    After lunch you can stay and fish all day, and maybe consider making camping arrangements to extend your stay to fully apply what you've learned.

    ​Approximately 100 miles East of Bend, the five lakes include Norcross, Blacksnag, Sherman, Grindstone, and Bueker.  They range in size from 20 to 70 acres and are chock-full of trout. Most of the fish range from 3 to 6 pounds, but some true giants reach more than 10 pounds.

    Accommodations consist of heavy-duty wall tents set up on platforms. Each tent is equipped with propane heaters and a wood burning stove.  Sleeping tents are spacious and are complete with cots and air mattresses.  Many guests have stated that they sleep better at Grindstone than they do at home!  Full bathroom facilities, including hot showers, are available as well.  

    The Grindstone hosts and team pride themselves in offering hearty home-cooked meals that are sure to please.  Most dietary requests can be accommodated.

    Although a limited selection of flies are available for purchase, it is advised to come stocked up on your favorite stillwater fly patterns.
