Anglers Meeting - June 16, 2016
Learn the tricks to fish for Lahaton cutthroats in NevadaÆs Pyramid Lake on Thursday, June 16 at the SHARC at 7:00pm. Chris Wharton, owner of Stillwater Guide Service will be speaking on fishing in the Reno û Lake Tahoe area. He has over 40 yrs. of fly fishing experience and has been fishing this Nevada area for the last 32 yrs. and guiding it for 18 yrs. Chris specializes in going after trophy trout on stillwater lakes and guiding and fishing the blue ribbon wild fish waters of the Truckee River.
Pyramid Lake is the third largest lake in Nevada, and is a true natural wonder located in the Pyramid Lake Paiute Indian Reservation in western Nevada. Covering 117,400 acres, it is the third largest of the remaining salt lakes in the United States, after Great Salt Lake in Utah and Salton Sea in California. The lake is fed by the Truckee River, the outflow of Lake Tahoe. It has no outlet, water leaves the lake only through evaporation in this high desert environment.
This hostile, but beautiful area is home to the Lahaton cutthroats, the largest native growing trout in North America. In Chris's presentation, he will go in depth into the techniques to use, to land more and larger fish in waters such as this world famous lake. He has had many of his clients land cutthroats over the 20lb. mark. As he puts it, it isn't rocket science to catch fish at Pyramid. But there are many little intricacies, that when followed, will up the number of large fish caught.
Sunriver Anglers Holiday Party – Request for flies and auction items
For the silent auction we would like to feature boxes of flies that you use on your favorite lakes, streams or tie a dozen of your favorite pattern or variations of the pattern.
Would you tie a dozen flies with a fly box for the auction? Mark the box for the lake or stream.
We would like the fly boxes and other items by December 1.
For those who don't tie, any other items you think would be a good auction item (knives, line, rods, reels, nets, bikes, float tubes, guided trips, hosted trips, jet boats, etc. would be appreciated.
Please contact Jerry Hubbard at email@example.com or call 541-390-9798 to sign up.
